The U.S. has now passed the grim milestone of 100,000 deaths from COVID-19. To be precise, the Johns Hopkins University tracker put the total as of 8:00 a.m. EDT Thursday at 100,442 fatalities and 1,699,933 overall cases — representing increases of 1,513 and 18,515, respectively, from a day earlier.
